You have a basic webpage to use for communicating with parents and students. However, there are lots of features of this program that we did not address during our “basic training.” These instructions will hopefully help you use some of those features.
Tips for Parents
Click on the Tips for Parents button.
· The title will be the title of the tip (example, homework tips).
· The description will describe the tip. For example, tips for setting routines so that homework does not end up a battleground.
· The URL title will be the title of a webpage that supplements your tip.
· The URL link is where the supplemental page is located.
· The date posted will be either the date you put in, or will as default, be the current date.
Homework Assignments
Click on the Homework Assignments button.
· Create a folder or folders for your assignments. Categorize by type, date, major/minor, etc.
· The title will be the title of the assignment. (Nonfiction book report)
· Description will describe the assignment. (Book report on nonfictional book about a person—a biography or autobiography)
· Resources will be suggestions of books to use with the assignment, or an outline of the report.
· Due date listed.
· Helpful links if there are any websites with pertinent information.
· Upload files if needed. These files could be outlines, rubrics, worksheets, templates, etc.
Links
Click on Links button.
· Create folder to categorize links. You may want a folder of informational links, a folder of good examples of what you want, etc.
· Press New Link to add a new link.
· Enter the title, description and URL of the link you want.
Announcements
Click on Announcements button.
· Click on New Announcement button.
· Enter announcement title.
· Choose image for announcement.
· Click on date posted.
Photo Galleries
Click on Photo Galleries.
· Add New Gallery.
· Give gallery a name, description, then save.
· Double click on empty photo album.
· Click on Add Photo, browse for image, then add title.
· Click Back.
· Continue until you have added all photos.
Custom Pages
Any page that does not already have a template can be built using the custom page button.
